How to change your appearance in Baldur’s Gate 3

Making your character can take a long time if you really want to get all the details right. From your race, class, hairstyle, and more, you have a lot of options to tweak before ever starting your adventure. If you’re a little too excited, you might end up slacking off on making your character and assuming you can update it later just so you can get right into the action. If so, or you simply want to change up your look after a couple of hours into this massive game, you’ll be at a loss as to how, if you even can, change your appearance in Baldur’s Gate 3. You may not fully like the answer, but here’s the best you can do in terms of altering your appearance after you’ve exited the character creator.

Can you change your appearance in Baldur’s Gate 3?

The answer to this is technically yes, but not in the way you would hope. To get it out of the way, no, there’s no way to return to the character creation screen after you’ve finalized your character. Unlike respeccing your character, there’s no NPC, item, or magic mirror anywhere in The Forgotten Realms that will let you change your appearance.

The only way to somewhat get around this is to use the Mask of the Shapeshifter if you purchased the Digital Deluxe version of the game. If you put this mask on, your character will automatically get the Shapeshift spell for free — it doesn’t use up a prepared spell slot. When cast, you will get to pick between a few randomly generated characters to disguise yourself as, but you can’t alter the options in any way. Once changed, you will stay in this form for one in-game day, or until you choose to dispel it, before needing to cast it again. If you want to permanently alter your player character, you will, unfortunately, need to make a brand-new one.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 5 adds new modes that can make the game easier or harder
Minthara in Baldur's Gate 3.

The fifth major patch for Baldur's Gate 3 just dropped. It's a literal game-changing patch, as it adds a new (extremely difficult) Honour Mode and a Custom Mode that will allow players to customize the difficulty of their adventure.

Honour Mode is essentially a hardcore version for Baldur's Gate 3. It disables save scumming, removes some exploits, increases the difficulty in combat and conversation, and implements a new Legendary Action system to the game's boss fights. Players technically only have one life to beat Honour Mode with, as they'll be presented with stats from their perilous journey and forced to disable the Honour Mode difficulty additions if they die at any point. Those who make it all the way through will get a Golden D20 in-game.

Best Perk-a-Colas in Modern Warfare 3 zombies, ranked
A lineup of perk sodas from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Ever since perks were introduced to the series, they've been a staple in every game mode in Call of Duty. For Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, you can obviously pick your perks during multiplayer, but not so in Zombies. This mode has always made perks work slightly differently, using different names, but similar mechanics. This time around, the Perk-a-Colas have returned, and these cans of refreshing soda just so happen to give your character a massive improvement. You can grab one from a vending machine on the map in exchange for your points, but they don't come cheap. Since these perks last you the rest of the match (or until used for some of them), you will want to choose your flavor wisely. These are all nine Perk-a-Colas in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 ranked from best to worst.

It is important to note that the location where each perk machine spawns on the new Zombies map is random for every match. There's no way to know where any specific perk will be, but you can see where perk machines spawn on your map as indicated by a downward pointing arrow.
